“Abraham Peterson was born on 6 Sep 1745 in Duxbury, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He died before 1818 in Jay, Franklin County, Maine. Carolyn DeLoid's notes indicate Abraham and his future wife's family (BAKER) owned adjoining farms.
The Peterson's of Duxbury records..." he was a revolutionary soldier. In 1785 he sold his Duxbury farm, and appears in the Census of 1790 as a resident of Winthrop, Me., his family consisting of two males of 16 years and upwards, three males under 16 years, and six females. Two of his sons are given as heads of families in this census."
From Mayflower Families Through Five Generations, Volume 3, "The family removed to Winthrop Me after the Revolution. In the division of the dower of his mother, the widow Lydia, 16 Nov 1818, the heirs of Abraham deceased (not named) shared."
From The Maine Families of 1790, "...d prob Jay bef 16 Nov 1818 when his heirs were named in the division of his mother's dower (Plymouth Co MA Probate #5787); of Duxbury MA when he m Marshfield MA 3 Mar 1768 PATIENCE BAKER (Mayflower Families, op.cit.), b. Abraham was a descendant of George Soule and Richard Warren of the MAYFLOWER; his wife Patience was descended from Richard Warren, William Bradford and Edward Doty (Mayflower Families, op. cit.; Browne, op.cit.)."
The Carolyn DeLoid notes indicate that at the time of Joseph Peterson, Jr.'s death Abraham was about six years of age. When he became of age, the eldest son Abraham, inherited the major portion of the land with his mother receiving 20 acres as her widow's dower rights, and his siblings sharing smaller portions so in 1785 when Abraham sold the homestead it included 30 acres of land. It remained the size of 30 acres until 1969 when the DeLoid family purchased 10.5 portioned acres.
In 1798 he appears on the 'Massachusetts and Maine Direct Tax List' as residing in Jay, Maine and owning 100 acres. His second son, Cornelius is also listed as owner of 100 acres in Jay, Maine. In 1815 he deeded his homestead farm to his son, Charles.
The Carolyn DeLoid notes indicate Abraham moved to Maine because he was given 100 acres as a homestead for serving in the Revolutionary War.

“Abraham PETERSON and Patience BAKER were married on 3 Mar 1768 in Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. There is another record of 15 February 1768, Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Believed to be filing of intent. Patience BAKER2,9 (daughter of John BAKER and Ruth BARKER) was born on 14 Nov 1749 in Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. She died on 20 Aug 1818.”, ,

“Abraham PETERSON was born on 6 September 1745 in Duxbury, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He died before 16 November 1818 at the age of 73 in Jay, Franklin County, Maine.
Death date in this document is from Maine Families In 1790, "...d prob Jay bef 16 Nov 1818 when his heirs were named in the division of his mother's dower (Plymouth Co MA Probate #5787)..." but after 27 October 1815, when his son Charles purchased Abraham's farm in return for Abraham's life support.

“From Mayflower Families Through Five Generations, Volume 3, "The family removed to Winthrop Me after the Revolution. In the division of the dower of his mother, the widow Lydia, 16 Nov 1818, the heirs of Abraham deceased (not named) shared."

“Writer's Note: The notes from the above documents lead one to believe Abraham moved to Maine at the time he sold his Massachusetts property in 1785. However, It appears the family moved to Maine before he sold his property. Maine vital records show births of Lucy, Joseph, and John prior to 1785.
Writer's Note: Documented knowledge of Abraham's family does not match the census of 1790:
      1790 Census: Documented 1790 (September 2011)
      2 Males - 16 and above 1 Male - 16 and above (Abraham)
      2 Males - under 16 2 Males - under 16 (Joseph, John)
6 Females 5 Females - (Patience, Rhoda, Sarah, Lucy, Lydia)
