      1) JOHN, bp. Woburn, Bedforshire, 5 September 1624; m. Rehoboth 23 November 1651 Anne Sutton.
      2) THOMAS, b. say 1632; m. by about 1652 Hannah Mayhew, daughter of THOMAS MAYHEW.
      3) ELIZABETH, b. say 1636; m. Jeremiah Whitton.
      4) HEPZIBAH, b. say 1639; m. by 1659 John Eddy, son of SAMUEL EDDY.
      5) JOSEPH, b. about 1647; m. say 1665 ____ ____, a sister of Putuspaquin, a minor sachem at Sanchekantacket, and probably the widowed mother of “Zachary” called the “son-in-law” of Joseph Doggett [Dukes Count Sessions Court 26 May 1685]. Richard Andrew Pierce has made an extensive study of this couple. She was not Alice Sisseton as claimed by Banks.

ASSOCIATIONS: John Doggett arrived in New England in 1630 and settled first at Watertown. One of his daughters married a son of SAMUEL EDDY , whose brother JOHN EDDY had married a daughter of John Doggett of Groton, Suffolk. All of these circumstances would lead one to believe that John Doggett the immigrant to New England was a member of this same Doggett family, but no connection has yet been found.
COMMENTS: As John Doggett received six acres in the Beaverbrook Plowlands and in the Remote Meadows, his family could have consisted of himself, his wife and four children. Our reconstruction of birth years for the children only gives him three children at the date of these grants, so some adjustment may be necessary in the list of children. On the other hand, the sixth acre of these grants may have been for some member of the household other than the immediate family, or for the family's holdings of livestock.
BIBLIOGRAPHIC NOTE: In 1894 Samuel Bradlee Doggett published an account of several Doggett families, including substantial research in English records [A History of the Doggett-Daggett Family (Boston 1894; rpt. Baltimore 1973)…Charles Edward Banks wrote at length of the Doggetts in his history of Martha's Vineyard.
In 1997 Gordon L. Remington identified the first wife of this immigrant, and also found the baptism of their eldest child…”
