The following paragraph is from “findagrave.com” listing Charles Leeman’s death date as “August 1937”:
“Charles Leeman, a pioneer of Cass Lake, died last Friday at University hospital of cancer. For several years past, he had lived at the Odd Fellows home at Northfield. The remains were brought to Cass Lake for burial and the funeral was held on Monday from the Swanson funeral parlors. Rev. Frank Stephens of the Methodist church officiated. The pall bearers were chosen from among members of the early Cass Lake fire department, the dceased having been the first fire chief in Cass Lake. Mr. Leeman was a native of Anoka. He was among the first settlers in Cass Lake, coming here from Grand Rapids about 1899. He was 78 years of age.”
