“Harvard M. Brawn, Jr.
Newport, July 24 Funeral services for Harvard M. Brawn Jr. who was killed in a plane crash at Skowhegan last Sunday were conducted in the High Street Union Church Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m., the Rev. John H. Miller officiating. Members of Old Hickory Lodge IOOF participated in the service. Interment was in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Brawn who was 24 years of age last January, was born in Newport, the son of Harvard M. Brawn and Mrs. Thelma Sheridan Marcho of Nessn (?) Ore.
He attended the Newport schools and Maine Central Institute leaving school to join the U.S. Navy in 1941. He was an experienced pilot and had a private license for some time and had nearly qualified for a commercial pilot. He had been employed at the Eastland Woolen mill in Corinna. He was a member of the Legion post in Rumford, Me and of Old Hickory Lodge, IOOF in Newport.
He married Dorothy Thompson of Corinna who survives him also three children Sherry Lee, Victoria Jean and Frank Henry of Newport, his parents Mrs. Marcho and Harvard M Brawn and a brother Donald Brawn of Pittsfield, his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Frank F. Sheridan of Newport, two uncles Harold Brawn of Plymouth and Lloyd Brawn of Dexter and cousins.”
