"Shafer, John Edwin LTC (Ret.)
Age 85. Died at Alexian Village on May 14, 1998, Beloved husband of the late
Ada L. (nee Shewry). Loving father of John (Janet) and Barbara (Harry)
Hockett. Dearest grandfather of Kathryn Schafer and Elizabeth (Scott)
Caswell. Great-grandfather to Joshua, Amber, Jessica and Desiree. Preceded
in death by his parents, his brothers Samuel and Herbert and his sister Mary
Lou Bouck. Further survived by extended family members and many friends.
Member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Wauwatosa for 50 years. Graduated Ripon
College-1935, retired from Rex Chain Belt in 1963 and from the Federal Civil
Service in 1978. Member of the Wauwatosa Police Reserves for 35 years.
Veteran of WW II and retired Lt. Col. in the Army Reserves. Member of
Wauwatosa Lodge 267 F.& A.M. Memorial Service arrangements are pending.
Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Episcopal Church
appreciated. Special thanks to the caring friends and staff of Alexian
Village and the Horizon Hospice team."
