Funeral services for Charles Miller, 68, retired farmer, 818 1/2 South Walts ave., father of Mrs. Robert A. Lucas, 1506 East Eighth st., will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Miller funeral chapel.
Mr. Miller died at a hospital Friday after a month's illness with a heart condition. He was a native of Minnehaha county, born June 3, 1874, in a covered wagon on the old family homestead south of Hartford, which his father took up earlier that year after coming from Iowa to settle in Dakota.
He attended the district school near Hartford and after his education was completed he farmed, which was his business until his retirement 30 years ago. He came to Sioux Falls at that time, and made his home here until his death.
Mr. Miller was married to Anna Voelsch at Hartford in 1901. She preceded him in death in March, 1906. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Lucas, and a son, Martin, Pine Bluffs, Ark., (who arrived here last night for the funeral services); four children, and a brother, Joe Miller, Long Beach, Calif.
The funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. G. A. Troemel, pastor of Zion Lutheran church, which was the congregation to which Mr. Miller belonged.
Mrs. Harry W. Nagel and Erna Thill will serve as vocalists and Mrs. G. Schaefer will be organist. Burial will be in the East Wall Lake cemetery."
