      Benjamin F. Lowell, of Boulder, died of natural causes Saturday, May 20, 2006, in Boulder. He was 92. The son of Charles Lowell and Mary Brown Lowell, he was born April 11, 1914, in Denver. He married Jean Potter in 1947, in Las Vegas.
      Mr. Lowell moved to Boulder in 1973.
      A graduate of the University of Colorado, Mr. Lowell worked in the oil industry and became involved in aviation. He served as the president of Aerobatic Club of America and was a judge of aviation competitions for the International Aerobatic Club. After retirement, Mr. Lowell worked with Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum and focused on advancing youth education.
      “Mr. Lowell was a mentor, advisor and dear friend who will be greatly missed.”
      Survivors include his son, Cam Lowell, of Wichita Falls, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
      He was preceded in death by his wife.
      A funeral service will be at 7 p.m. today at Winges Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum, 7711 E. Academy Blvd., Denver.
      Fairmount Mortuary, in Denver, handled arrangements.”

      “Ben F. Lowell, 92, of Boulder Colo., made his final flight west Saturday, May 20th, 2006. The son of Charles and Mary Lowell, he was born April 11th, 1914 in Denver Colorado. Ben graduated from Colorado University and entered the oil business in northern Texas. Later in life his passion for aviation would find him as the president of United States Aerobatic Club and an active competition judge world-wide. In retirement his efforts were concentrated towards the Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Center, and the advancement of youth education.
      He was proceeded in death by his wife Jean Potter. Ben F. Lowell is survived by his son Cam Lowell and wife Debbie, grandchildren Paul Lowell and wife Rebecca, Cara Pebley, Lacy Aguilar and husband Luis, and four great grandchildren.”
